The Aquaness ARBREAK™ 8133 demulsifier is a high-molecular weight oxyalkylated phenolic resin which has been found to be highly effective as a crude oil emulsion breaker. This product is used on emulsions of the water-in-oil type and works by counteracting the stabilizing influence of naturally present emulsifying agents. ARB8133 demulsifier is classified as a nonionic surface-active organic chemical that will not interact with ionic-type chemicals. It may exhibit antifoaming characteristics when used in gas-cut emulsions. ARB8133 demulsifier has been used effectively throughout the United States and the world in the treatment of many crude oils. ARB8133 demulsifier is generally used in a dilute form in aromatic solvent or blended with chemicals of different generic structure to give synergistic formulas which may have greater efficiency. Emulsion breakers containing ARB8133 demulsifier are usually added by chemical pump at the wellhead or ahead of gas or water knockouts of treating systems. The emulsion being treated generally dictates the treating ratio.
